Standard Geotextiles
Standard Geotextiles
  • Made from high tenacity UV stabilised inert virgin polyolefin fibres
  • Thermal bonding technology with very high static and dynamic puncture resistance
  • Random orientated web with isotropic properties provide the same high strength, high permeability and excellent filtration in all directions
  • Range of pore sizes that can filter different soils from course silt to large gravel whilst allowing the passage of water
  • High elongation (strain) at break point (ultimate tensile strength)
Standard Geotextiles
  • Highly durable in all typical soil conditions with an expected service life in excess of 100 years
  • Highly resistant to damage from construction compacting equipment, does not fray or rupture unlike woven geotextiles
  • Separation, filtration and protection function maintained at the subgrade/subbase interface even when subjected to radial loads from vehicle wheels
  • Extends pavement life by preventing mixing of imported granular fill and allows greater compaction of subbase materials
  • Maintains separation and filtration function under high load even in soft and variable strength ground unlike woven geotextiles

FAQs

Terrapro Geotextiles offer a combination of proven experience, differentiated technology and long-term performance.

  • Proven History:
Building on the legacy and expertise of Terram, with more than 50 years of experience in geosynthetics, Terrapro products are accepted across more than 40 countries for a wide range of civil engineering and infrastructure applications.
  • Differentiated Technology:
Terrapro Geotextiles are manufactured using advanced bicomponent (Bico) technology, combining PP and PE polymers within continuous filaments. This enables an engineered combination of strength, durability and hydraulic performance.
  • Chemical Resistance:
The PP/PE polymer combination provides excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals, making Terrapro Geotextiles suitable for use in aggressive soil and environmental conditions.
  • Superior Performance:
The thermal bonding process provides high initial strength and enhanced resistance to installation damage. The engineered, compact structure provides efficient filtration and drainage while helping maintain long-term hydraulic performance.
  • Long Life:
Terrapro Geotextiles can provide a design life of 100 years or more in many typical soil environments, subject to the specific application, environmental conditions and appropriate design and installation.
  • International Standards & Certifications:
Terrapro products are manufactured to internationally recognised quality standards and carry relevant certifications, including CE marking for applicable products and compliance with applicable AASHTO requirements & ISO 9001/14001/45001

The selection of the appropriate geotextile grade depends primarily on the CBR (California Bearing Ratio) of the subgrade and the size of the aggregates that will come into contact with the geotextile. For drainage and filtration applications, additional factors such as soil particle size distribution, permeability, filtration characteristics, and clogging resistance should be considered to ensure effective and long-term performance.

In many drainage applications, yes. They can reduce the thickness of granular filters while maintaining filtration performance, subject to engineering design.

PP/PE nonwoven geotextiles offer superior chemical resistance, excellent durability and very low moisture absorption, making them ideal for aggressive soil and groundwater conditions. Unlike polyester (PET), which can undergo hydrolytic degradation in highly alkaline environments, PP/PE maintain their long-term performance, making them a preferred choice for roads, railways, drainage, landfills and other civil engineering applications.

The GSM weight of a geotextile is a useful parameter for the purposes of internal manufacturing quality control; however, it is merely a consequential parameter. The most important properties which affect performance of a geotextile are various mechanical strengths like puncture resistance, tear and tensile strength. Terrapro geotextiles often achieve the required functional performance at much lower weights compared to other geotextiles, due to the exceptional quality control and state of the art manufacturing process.

They enhance the performance and design life of granular layers by providing separation and filtration, preventing the intermixing of soft subgrade soil with base materials. This preserves the stone layer’s integrity, maintains load-bearing capacity, and prevents pavement deformation like rutting and cracking.
